May they all "be one; as thou, Father; art in me, and I in thee."- John 17:21
Jesus prayed that his followers might all be of the same spirit, working for the same goals, with the same hearts’ desires he and his Father shared. This scripture clearly indicates Jesus is God’s dear Son, and not that he is God. The idea of the text is clearer if we substitute the word alike for one. As God and Jesus are alike in spirit and purpose, we are to be like them. John 10:38
